The Obsession with A-RodSome Sox Fans Need to Move On

He didn't become a Red Sox shortstop after a long tortured attempt to trade for him in the offseason of 2003-2004. He subsequently became a Yankee and was a member of the team saddled with the worst choke in baseball history and personal infamy for his slap of the ball (parodied on RedSoxDieHard.com) from Bronson Arroyo during 2004's ALCS. He had to spend the offseason watching the Red Sox and their fans revel in their World Series victory. He had a great regular season and is recognized by many as the best overall ballplayer in baseball but faced disappointment and performed horribly in this year's playoffs. Still, some Red Sox fans are still obsessed with Alex Rodriguez ("A-Rod"). Tim who runs the excellent Bullshit Memorial Stadium pointed out this obsession in a thread on RedSoxNation.net (you will have to register to see the thread which is in "McGreevey's Third Base Saloon" [here] on the site). The first post in the thread has a link to this posting on a site called TheSuperficial.com. The post itself is not too well written and as you read tells a story about seeing A-Rod in a restaurant in New York during her birthday party. The problem with this story is that the picture is a complete and utter fake. It appears that the person decided to take A-Rod's pouty purple lips and graft them, using Photoshop or a similar program, to a fellow who probably bears a passing resemblance, except for the lips. You can see the line of where the rectangle holding A-Rod's lips was put onto this picture. Some (Red Sox fans) will go to all ends to discredit A-Rod. This is all so unecessary since he does a great job of it himself on the field with his playoff performance.

Give Me Larry Bird!

I thought I was a big Larry Bird fan but this guy from Oklahoma City has me beat.   He will have plenty of time to look watch and read about the exploits of Larry.   

Super Nomar Saves The Day

Curtain Closed

The curtain's been closed on the Red Sox season for more than five days but I feel fine. Gone is the gut wrenching sense of loss that many of us felt up until last year. This team simply didn't have the pitching or timely hitting to get past the White Sox, let alone repeat as World Champions. In many ways this signals the end of an era as the roster will likely see much turnover in the offseason. As we count the days until the van is sent to Fort Myers and when pitchers and catchers report, we still have the fond memories of 2004 in our hearts and need only pop in a DVD or leaf through a book to remember that wonderful trip.

Fatman Begins (Again)

How ugly was that? 14-2 destruction at the hands of the White Sox. Our hopes now lie with the Fatman. He came through when we needed him against New York. Let's see what the Dark Knight has left!
